All timings could vary on Race Organization decision.
Race could be cancelled on decision by race organization over bad weather or any condition which could endanger the participating athletes along the race track.
3. KIND OF RACE
MATADOWN is a Marathon Downhill race with mass start. The track is mostly downhill on dirt paths and could present narrowing, rocks, fords, steep ascends and descends and is undue to beginners and untrained athletes. Race lengths is about 12,5 km with a drop of 1400 mts.
Respecting of mountain and trail is the top consideration of the organization and athletes must take it in consideration as well. Participants MUST respect the Event Rules as well as the ROAD Code, especially when crossing villages. Participants must be sporty and loyal avoiding to obstacle faster athletes and put in danger slower or less experienced ones.
4. SIGN UP MODALITIES
MATADOWN RACE is reserved to a maximum of 150 athletes.
FCI associated Society which will to participate has to enrol using the federal informatic system at http://fci.ksport.kgroup.eu/
(to find the race use the link “gare” and insert “Id Gara 146718” in the search field), NLT 24.00 on the Thursday preceding the race. Omitting to do that will impede the participation. It will be necessary to use also the Organising Society system on the following internet site: https://www.vallimpiadi.com/.
Who, at the day of the race, will not have all the documentation will not start.
Enrolling will be considered valid upon check of the payment of fees.
Enrolling means accepting these rules.
Each participant must let check his FCI ID CARD by the jury before collecting his race number.
5. FEES PAYMENT
Enrolling fees comprise race participation, ascent to Rifugio Pelizzo (by bus for athletes and van for the bikes) the race day and eventual gadget decided by organization.

Enrolment will be confirmed upon correct payment of the fees. This will be confirmed by reception of a confirmation email on the address provided during enrolment.
Payed fees will not be reimbursed.
Pin order to avoid problems is advised to bring the payment receipt at the ID CARD verification.
6. ATHLETES CATEGORIES
MATADOWN is part or Regional Federciclismo Race calendar, MDH (Marathon Downhill) class, and in the Slovenian circuit Enduro4 Fun.
All FCI – UCI members, both competitive or amateur, or Sport Promotion bodies, recognised by CONI and in agreement with FCI, members except for youth/rookie categories (7 to 14 years old).
Members of bodies which didn’t signed an agreement with FCI will not participate.
Athletes without an FCI card or one from an agreed body could participate upon request for a daily card and showing a medical clearance for competitive sport activities, valid at the RACE day and for cycling.
a maximum of 3 foreign athletes for each class could participate if authorized by their federation. Athletes from National federation which have agreement with the Regional Committee hosting the race (Slovenia, Croatia, Styria e Carinthia) could participate freely.
Is MANDATORY, during qualify and race, to use a helmet with chin guard, always tied, and homologated for DH and 4X. Helmet must be fitted with visor/frontino. Helmet without chin guard are forbidden. During transfers is admitted the use of an XCO helmet. Hand, knee and back protection, homologated and sold for this specific use, are also mandatory.
Use of other protections (long gloves, neck brace, etc.) is advised. Participants must be self-sufficient regarding mechanical repairs. Having a mobile phone is advised to contact or be contacted by the organization, in case of problems during the race or in case of withdrawal. The contact number will be given during the pre-race briefing.
Mountain bike of the following types are admitted:
- Front suspension with hardtail. The fork needs to be in good condition and the frame robust;
- XC Full suspension;
- AII Mountain/enduro full suspension;
- DH full suspension.
Each participant is responsible for his bike.
E-BIKE are not allowed.
The race track (maps and GPX file) will be published on the event website to allow for a recce before the race. This activity is not mandatory and have to be carried respecting the environment, trails and villages. No responsibilities fall on the organization or the staff cooperating with it for any damages, to people or things, caused by accident or illicit behaviour during this activity.
SUNDAY 05 AUGUST
Race numbers will be assigned on enrolment order after the id card verification.
technical briefing with the Organization Manager, Jury, Team managers/ Sport directors/ athletes and, eventually; a representative of S,T.F, in which any change of rules regarding the race or the qualification round, will be held on Sunday 5th Aug at 09.30 in the gym of the Sport/scholastic area of San Pietro al Natisone (UD).
In order to determine the departure grid a qualifying round will be held for all the participants in a part of the track chose by the organization.
Participants will start with a 20” distance between them. At the end of the qualification the timings will be declared. Those timings will not be used for the final ranking.
Participants will be divided in two groups of no more than 75 depending the qualification timings. The two groups will depart divided by 30 minutes. The group mass start.
Winner will be the one arrived in the lowest time.
10. TIMING SERVICE
timing will be assigned to an external company. The day of the race all the participant will receive a CHIP for the timing upon delivery of an ID CARD.
The chip will be given back at the end of the race. Participants are responsible for the equipment. In case of damage or loss of the chip the fee is 60,00€
11. MEDICAL CARE
Medical care is composed of at least 1 medic and 2 ambulances.
Mountain Rescue services has been alerted.
Nearest Emergency Room is in Cividale del Friuli (UD) Hospital.

12. FAIRPLAY AND PENALITIES
In case of accidents or injuries all participant MUST help and in case call the emergency services. The organization held the faculty to penalize or disqualify the athletes who doesn’t help, in addition to the legal investigation for the crime of failure to rescue.
– Participants who would like to withdraw needs to inform the organization through the personnel along the race track or through the mobile number which will be given during the briefing.
– is forbidden to participants to modify the race track before or during the race, to be transported by, pulled by or pushed by motorized vehicles or cut, involuntarily also, parts of the track.
– In case of a participant who leave the track he must re-enter it in the exact point and repair the track delimitation. The organization hold the right to modify the track without notice until the start and to implement check points along it to avoid infractions.
– while crossing the villages is advised to follow the track, do not disturb and to check the speed to avoid accidents.
– The road along the race track will be closed only during the race. All the participants must keep a behaviour which will not endanger them or the others and respectful of the environment. During transfers on the public roads they must obey the traffic laws.
13. MEDICAL CHECK
medical check, in accordance with FCI-UCI and Health ministry rules, will be held in an equipped room in the gym of the scholastic-sports area in San Pietro al Natisone (UD).
the winner will be the ones with the lowest timings not depending on the start group.
In example the best racer of the 1st group takes 35’, the ones of the 2nd group 34’. The winner will be the second one.
All the racers arriving at the finish line after the winner will have finished the race and be ranked conforming to their timing not depending of their start group. In case of same timing the position will be ex-aequo.
the racer who withdraws must immediately leave the track and can not cross the finish line.
In the final ranking he will be designed as DNF (did not finish).
At the end of the race a ranking for each category will be published in accordance with Federciclismo and SloEnduro rules.
Complaints regarding qualification round, rankings and other participants behaviour or any other kind of report needs to be presented on paper to the Race Director and originally signed by the participant NLT 30’ from the ranking publication. Race direction will present its finding NLT 60’ from the complaint.
the organizing committee will meet on the spot to resolve the controversies before the award ceremony.
the Organizing committee is composed by the Race Director and the Track manager.
16. PROTOCOL CEREMONY
the protocol ceremony will be held at the end of the race.
No responsibilities, of any kind, regarding damages to people or things related to accidents or illicitness behaviour by the participants will fall upon the organization or its staff. For any situation not included in this rule set the jury will follow the UCI, FCI rules and the Italian Law.
